Deleting your BuddhaMind account
Last updated: 31 August 2026
You can delete your BuddhaMind account at any time, and you don't need to ask us to do it for you. This page explains how, and exactly what is and isn't removed.
In the app
Open Settings, choose Delete account, and follow the two steps. We ask — optionally — why you're leaving, and you can skip that question. The final step asks you to confirm.
If you signed in some time ago, we may ask you to sign out and sign in again before deleting — a security check, so that nobody can delete an account left open on a borrowed device. Sign in again and choose Delete account a second time.
Once confirmed, deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
If you can't use the app
If you've uninstalled BuddhaMind, changed device, or can't sign in, email buddhamind@lbc.org.uk from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm once it's done.
If you write from a different address we may ask you something only the account holder would know, so that nobody can delete someone else's account.
What is deleted
Everything personal in your account:
- Your profile, name, email address and login
- Any photo you uploaded
- Any notes or reflections you wrote
- Your account itself, so you can no longer sign in
What we keep, and why
Two things outlive the account. Both are described in full in our privacy policy, and neither can be used to identify or contact you.
A record that a meditation was played and that a course was joined — which practice or course it was, and the dates and durations — with your name, your account and everything else identifying removed. These are tagged with a random ID so our overall figures can still count how many different people used the app in a given month, and so those figures don't change retrospectively when someone leaves. The charity's trustees rely on those figures. We keep nothing that maps that random ID back to you.
Donation and course-booking records, including the name and email address attached to the transaction. These are financial records and UK law requires us to keep them for 7 years from the date of the record. Because we hold them to meet a legal obligation, a deletion request does not extend to them. After 7 years they are deleted.
Questions
If anything here isn't clear, or you'd like to talk to us before deciding, email buddhamind@lbc.org.uk. We're happy to explain, and asking doesn't start the process.
